Comedian Russell Brand has plunged into MAGA politics, becoming a fervent supporter of former President Donald Trump and accusing President Joe Biden of plagiarizing Trump’s policies while criminalizing him. This drastic shift aligns Brand with the fervent base of Trump’s “Make America Great Again” movement.

However, this shift comes amid controversies. Brand is a notorious pro-Putin conspiracy theorist and has been accused of sexual assault by four women, casting a shadow over his recent political and personal rebranding efforts.

In the upcoming episode of his podcast “Stay Free with Russell Brand,” Brand dives deep into MAGA ideology during an interview with RNC spokeswoman Elizabeth Pipko. The pair discuss Trump’s trial and conviction, with Brand vehemently defending Trump and offering a scathing critique of the current political landscape.

In a preview clip shared on social media, Brand expresses bewilderment over why any freedom-loving American would choose Biden over Trump. “If you care about democracy and freedom, I don’t know how you could do anything other than vote for Donald Trump for precisely the reasons that they claim that you can’t,” he asserts to Pipko.

Brand lashes out at liberals for their disdain toward Trump supporters, accusing Biden’s administration of adopting Trump’s policies while demonizing him. “For a long time, Elizabeth, I’ve been concerned about the snobbery and condemnation in which Trump supporters are plainly held by his detractors,” Brand said. “This is while you have an administration emulating his policies, plagiarizing from Donald Trump, while criminalizing him through the weaponization of the legal system.”

Brand argues that the true threat to democracy stems from “technological feudalism” and increasing societal division, rather than Trump. He finds the mainstream portrayal of Trump as a “mad strongman figure” misleading, suggesting that the current administration’s actions are more harmful to democracy.

Brand’s recent activities underscore his deep dive into MAGA territory. He hosted independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on his podcast and performed at a Kennedy campaign event in Nashville last month. These actions underline Brand’s firm alignment with right-wing figures and the MAGA movement.

Additionally, Brand has embraced Christianity, recently getting baptized. He views this religious turn as a response to the modern world’s loss of meaning and the crumbling of value systems and institutions. “People are so cynical about the increasing interest in Christianity and the return to God, but to me, it’s obvious,” Brand said on social media. “As meaning deteriorates in the modern world, as our value systems and institutions crumble, all of us become increasingly aware of this eerily familiar awakening and beckoning figure that we’ve all known all of our lives, within us and around us.”

Brand’s embrace of MAGA ideology, coupled with his outspoken support for Trump and criticism of Biden, marks a significant transformation in his public persona, positioning him as a prominent voice within the MAGA movement.
