Republican Congressman Paul Gosar of Arizona is facing backlash for suggesting that General Mark Milley should be “hanged” due to perceived actions that were not supportive of Donald Trump.
In a newsletter published Sunday, Gosar echoed Trump’s sentiments by implying that Milley deserved the death penalty for undermining Trump’s presidency.
Gosar has been the subject of censure efforts after his newsletter reportedly included a link to a website known for promoting antisemitism and Holocaust denialism. In his Sunday newsletter, he falsely accused Gen. Milley of delaying the deployment of National Guard resources during the events surrounding January 6th.
The comments from Gosar coincide with similar remarks from former President Trump, who had also suggested that the retiring general, critical of Trump during his tenure, deserved the “death penalty.” These statements have drawn condemnation from various conservative circles.

Gosar’s newsletter on Sunday contained strong language, including claims that General Milley, whom he referred to as a “homosexual-promoting-BLM-activist Chairman of the military joint chiefs,” had conspired with Nancy Pelosi against President Trump.
Gosar even went so far as to suggest that Milley should be executed, stating, “In a better society, quislings like the strange sodomy-promoting General Milley would be hung.” He further questioned why Milley remained in office, characterizing him as a traitor.
