Kevin Costner’s estranged wife, Christine, is moving out of their shared home, which has been valued at $145 million in Santa Barbara. Moving trucks were seen leaving the property after she was pictured running errands in Montecito, California, according to People Magazine.
A source told the news outlet that Christine is adhering to legal advice from the prenuptial agreement and will stay temporarily in a smaller house on the same property, which has been used as a staff quarter.
The source added that the main focus for Christine is to minimize disruption to their children’s lives, who will be returning to school in the fall with their friends. She is actively searching for another house in the area.
“This is a temporary solution,” the insider said. “She is still looking for another house. She is staying in the area to not disrupt the kids’ lives. They will be back at school in the fall with their friends.
“Christine is trying to keep everything as normal as possible. Her sole focus is the kids,” the source told People.
The decision to move comes after a court ruling earlier in July, which required Christine to vacate the home by July 31. She had originally requested until August 31 if a child-support agreement had been reached, but Kevin Costner requested her to leave by July 13.
Throughout the divorce proceedings, there have been contentious arguments, and her remaining in the house had been a point of contention.
The couple has three children together: Grace, 13, Hayes, 14, and Cayden, 16. They have been on separate summer vacations, with Costner taking his teenagers to British Columbia and Christine going to Hawaii with the kids. The latter trip came after Christine was awarded $129,000 per month in child support, a figure that had been contested by Kevin Costner’s side, who referred to her initial request of $248,000 as “inflated.”
