Following Peter Navarro’s indictment and arrest for criminal contempt of Congress, Texas Representative Louie Gohmert complained that America is screwed up because “Republicans can’t even lie to Congress or lie to an FBI agent or they’re coming after you.”
Gohmert’s remarks came during an interview on Newsmax, where he lamented that Navarro’s arrest Friday means that Republicans might have to tell the truth when dealing with Congress or law enforcement.
The Texas congressman, a former lawyer and judge, said that Navarro was the victim of “a two-tiered justice system.”
His comments triggered a slush of negative comments on social media.
