Several Democratic lawmakers are calling for the expulsion of members of Congress who helped plan the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY) wrote in a tweet late on Sunday night that “Any member of Congress who helped plot a terrorist attack on our nation’s capitol must be expelled.”

“This was a terror attack. 138 injured, almost 10 dead. Those responsible remain a danger to our democracy, our country, and human life in the vicinity of our Capitol and beyond,” she added.

Joining AOC’s call, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) wrote: “Any Member of Congress who plotted with Jan. 6 terrorists must be removed from Congress.”

“Any Member who had knowledge of or helped plan the January 6 attack on the Capitol needs to be immediately expelled from Congress. They cannot be trusted with the future of our democracy and country,” Rep. David Cicilline of Rhode Island.

The comments from AOC, Swalwell, and Cicilline came after a bombshell report by Rolling Stone magazine named multiple members of Congress that were “intimately involved” in the planning of former President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn his election loss and the January 6 protests, which culminated in the deadly storming of the U.S. Capitol.

Two sources familiar with the planning told The Rolling Stone report names Reps Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) Paul Gosar (R-AZ) Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Mo Brooks (R-AL), Madison Cawthorn (R-NC), Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), and Louie Gohmert (R-TX).

The sources told the magazine that the pro-Trump lawmakers participated in “dozens of planning briefings ahead of that day when Trump supporters broke into the Capitol as his election loss to President Joe Biden was being certified.”

Ocasio-Cortez, who has spoken of fearing for her life as she hid in a bathroom after the rioters breached the Capitol building, wrote that the people responsible “remain a danger to our democracy.”
