Former President Donald Trump sparked the ire of the internet on Wednesday after he issued a not-so-vailed threat against the Capitol police officer who shot and killed MAGA rioter Ashli Babbitt, accusing the officer of being a murderer and warning that “we know who he is.”
In a blatant effort to make a martyr of his dead supporter, Trump issued a statement saying that he spoke with Babbitt’s mother and then issued accused the officer who fatally shot her of murder for firing his weapon as she was trying to break into the congressional chamber where members of Congress were sheltering. He also warned that he knows who the officer is.
“Ashli Babbitt… was murdered at the hands of someone who should never have pulled the trigger of his gun,” Trump wrote. “We know who he is.”
Trump, who Trump lost the 2020 popular vote by more than 7 million votes, then falsely claimed that “there are far more people represented by Ashli, who truly loved America, than there are on the other side.”
Twitter users were quick to point out that the twice-impeached, one-term president was trying to send his mob against the hero officer for protecting the Capitol.

I mean the fact that he is still saying this stuff is clearly trying to keep jis attempt coup followers together and motivated as he probably hopes they'll be another attempt on his behalf just common sense talking

What Ashli Babbitt loved about America was the idea of Trump as its dictator, and she was willing to help attempt to overturn the election by force to get there.

Nice thing to say about someone going after your own Vice-President. Also, is that an implied threat to the police officer?

Nothing at all implied about the threat. He will sic his cult on the police officer who behaved correctly

Loving Trump is not the same as loving America. In fact, thinking he was good for our country is akin to hating the USA.

He wants to martyr her so that more people are willing to sacrifice their lives to literally fight for him.

Funny, he’s never mentioned the cops. Not one.

She knew she was breaking the law. She knew the mob behind her intended to do harm to people and property and if she had breached hundreds would have followed and many more deaths would have occurred that day.

Cop should sue Trump for endangering his life.

Donald Trump was the one who said when the looting starts the shooting start.

Ashli Babbitt, made a very bad decision in attempting to break into the House Chamber. It cost her, her life, but she was led to that point by Donald Trump & political propaganda by @FoxNews & @GOP house & senate members. They are partly responsible for her death.

The head of the @GOP claiming someone smashing through a window in the Capitol to violently attack democratically elected Congresspeople was representing the majority of Americans.
It's a struggle to process how bad this is, so it just sort of floats on by.
