Texas Sen. Ted Cruz triggered a slush of mockery on social media after his failed attempt to criticize White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Monday.
Cruz accused Psaki of “brazen gaslighting” after she patiently explained to a Fox News reporter that, if any defunding of the police is being done, it’s by Republicans who shot down a $350 million bill that would have provided support for law enforcement.
But his choice of the term “gaslighting” was a reminder of not only his reputation as “Lying Ted” –bestowed upon him by Donald Trump — but also a reminder of his fleeing the country for sunny Cancun when the Texas energy grid failed, residents in his home state froze and some died.
Twitter users didn’t hesitate to drag Cruz over the coals and set him ablaze. He’s being torched for hours.
Gaslighting? That’s rich, coming from a man who watched Texans FREEZE TO DEATH, while he escaped to sunny Cancun, then blamed the vacation on his daughters.

The most patriotic thing you can do is to just go away to Cancun on a one-way ticket. And preferably as quickly as possible.

Translation: "We're doing this, so of COURSE we're going to say the other side is doing it and not us!"
I mean, you DID go "Oooh! Look at the money we got you!" after 100% of you voted against any stimulus money.

Rafael Cruz wouldn't know what gaslighting is if it crawled up his butt and sang glory glory.

That bill has funding for hiring more police officers.
Did you vote for it?— Jazzmom Wants Indictments (@jazzmom98) June 29, 2021
This is rich, coming from the man who told us January 6th was just a bunch of tourists being a little rowdy.

It's not gaslighting at all. Cheddarhead withheld money from Blue States and Cities and now the GOP is trying to prevent money from going to Blue States and cities as well. States need that money. If they don't get it, indirectly, all State budgets suffer including Police.

How convenient for you to finally remember this word. Now do “traitor” and “coward”.

didn't it have 350 billion in there for LEA? also, can you point to any federal efforts anywhere to defund any LEA in the nation? aren't these agencies and departments funded by state and local taxes?

Republicans did, in fact, use their vote to defund the police. And turned their back on the police over the Insurrection. That’s not gaslighting. Those are facts.
