President Donald Trump has been urging his followers to participate in a “big” and “wild” protest in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6, the day Congress is set to reconvene to certify the Electoral College votes.
Now, members of the far-right group the Proud Boys, known for its signature black-and-yellow clothing during rallies and protests, have announced they will attend Trump’s “wild” rally on Jan. 6 “incognito,” with leaders of the group saying they will dress in “all BLACK” to mimic the attire of anti-fascist groups and counter-protesters.
The white supremacy organization, which typically appears in large groups, announced on social media that group members “might dress in all BLACK for the occasion.”
Additionally, members of the group will likely branch off into smaller formations to maintain the “incognito” appearance.
Biden defeated Trump by 74 electoral votes, 306-232. But that’s not stopping the outgoing president from trying every possible way to prevent a Biden presidency.
He has peddled unsubstantiated claims of mass voter fraud resulting in Biden unfairly winning the 2020 Election, a claim former Attorney General William Barr and several other intelligence agencies denied had any effect on the election’s outcome.
The Washington Post reported there have been online threats of violence, ploys to smuggle guns into the District, and calls to set up an “armed encampment” on the Washington Mall.
Meanwhile, authorities said they are ready to squash any violence.
