In a fiery exchange on Fox News, former President Donald Trump clashed with host Howard Kurtz over controversial claims regarding Haitians allegedly eating pets in Springfield, Ohio. During the Sunday interview, Kurtz pressed Trump to acknowledge that these assertions had been widely debunked.
Kurtz pointedly asked, “But when you said, you know, it’s gone viral, they’re eating the dogs, they’re eating the cats. But why not say now, well, look, that turned out not to be true?”
In response, Trump retorted, “I don’t know if it’s true or not true,” prompting Kurtz to insist, “It’s been debunked by the officials.”
Trump shot back by asking, “What about the goose? The geese? They’re all missing. It was one guy with two geese.”
He continued, “I have no idea. I said something. The big problem is that you can’t put 30,000 people into a 50,000-person town or city and expect this city to even survive or do well. What they’ve done to Springfield, Ohio, is very, very unfair. And I mean, there are a lot of stories.”
Kurtz maintained his stance, stating, “Well, I think it’s been debunked by local officials.”
Trump countered, “I don’t think it’s been debunked at all. I think nobody talks about it except you.”
The exchange between Trump and Kurtz underscored the ongoing debate over false immigration narratives pushed by Trump and his allies.
