During an event in Belen, New Mexico, President Joe Biden snapped at Fox News’s Peter Doocy over a question regarding his son Hunter Biden’s business dealings.
Doocy mentioned recent testimony in which one of Hunter’s former business associates claimed that the president was frequently on speakerphone discussing business matters with them.
“There’s this testimony now where one of your son’s former business associates is claiming that you were on speakerphone a lot with them talking business,” Doocy told Biden.
Biden quickly retorted, “I never talked business with anybody. And I knew you’d have a lousy question.”
Doocy persisted, asking Biden what made the question lousy. Biden’s reply was straightforward, “Because it’s untrue.”
DOOCY: "There's this testimony now where one of your son's former business associates is claiming that you were on speaker phone a lot talking business."
BIDEN: "I never talked business…I knew you'd have a lousy question."
DOOCY: "Why is that a lousy question?"

The question seemed to refer to a newly released transcript of a House Oversight Committee interview with Devon Archer, who had worked with Hunter Biden. In the interview, Archer stated that Hunter had occasionally put his father on speakerphone during meetings with business associates. However, Archer clarified that the calls were “generally about the weather and, you know, what it’s like in Norway or Paris or wherever he may be,” and said he didn’t hear any discussion of the substance of Hunter Biden’s business dealings during the calls.
Critics, including Republicans in Congress and conservative media pundits, have consistently criticized Hunter Biden’s business involvements, accusing him of capitalizing on his father’s political position for financial gain.
This interaction was not the first time Doocy’s questioning had provoked the president. Last year, Biden was inadvertently recorded making a derogatory comment about Doocy after being asked an economic question during a press event.
The relationship between the Biden administration and Fox News has been tense, marked by disputes such as a recent rebuke directed at the network’s host for “obscene” remarks about the Holocaust.
Meanwhile, President Biden is currently on a West Coast trip, where he is promoting his economic and legislative agenda for the initial 2 1/2 years of his presidency.
