Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Monday delivered what many are calling an utterly deranged segment in which he railed against people who wear face masks, comparing the practice to the “political obedience” people are forced to adhere to totalitarian states like North Korea.
“The only people who wear masks outside are zealots and neurotics,” a furious Carlson said.
“If you dare to go on foot from Union Station into the Capitol, for example, in Washington without wearing a mask, angry Biden voters will snort at you in judgement,” he continued, saying that in return, people should shame those who continue to wear masks outside.
“The rest of us should be snorting at them first — they’re the aggressors,” he said. “It’s our job to brush them back and restore the society we were born in. So the next time you see someone in a mask on the sidewalk or on the bike path, do not hesitate — ask politely, but firmly, ‘Would you please take off your mask? Science shows there is no reason you should be wearing it. Your mask is making me uncomfortable.’”
“We should do that and we should keep doing that until wearing a mask outside is roughly as socially accepted as lighting a Marlboro on an elevator,” Carlson said. “It’s repulsive — don’t do it around other people. That’s the message we should send because it’s true.”
Carlson then called on to his audience to call Child Protective Services n parents of children who wear a mask, arguing that “forcing” children to wear a mask outside should be “illegal.”
“Your response when you see children wearing masks as they play should be no different than your response if you see someone beating a kid at Walmart. Call the police immediately, call Child Protective Services, keep calling until someone arrives — what you’re looking at is abuse.”
