Former President Donald Trump’s own lawyer may have betrayed him in the Mar-a-Lago documents case, according to former Watergate attorney Nick Akerman.
In an interview on CNN, Akerman analyzed the newly revealed information from the less-redacted search warrant, suggesting that the FBI could not have obtained such incriminating evidence without an inside source.
Akerman expressed his belief that Trump’s attorney, Evan Corcoran, is a strong candidate for this inside source. He speculated that Corcoran, realizing that he was being deceived by Trump and his allies, potentially in jeopardy of losing his law license, may have approached the FBI to disclose the truth.
In upcoming legal proceedings, Akerman suggested that this scenario could unfold during the trial, with Corcoran and others testifying. He anticipated that video evidence would corroborate their statements on the witness stand.
