With Joe Biden exiting the presidential race and endorsing Kamala Harris, Donald Trump suddenly shows deep apprehension about debating her.
Initially, the Trump and Biden campaigns had agreed on two debates: one on June 27 hosted by CNN and another on September 10 by ABC News. Biden’s poor performance in the first debate contributed to his withdrawal. Now, Trump appears anxious about facing Harris.
“My debate with Crooked Joe Biden, the Worst President in the history of the United States, was slated to be broadcast on Fake News ABC, the home of George Slopadopolus, sometime in September,” Trump grumbled on Truth Social Sunday night. “Now that Joe has, not surprisingly, has quit the race, I think the Debate, with whomever the Radical Left Democrats choose, should be held on FoxNews, rather than very biased ABC. Thank you! DJT”
Trump also complained about the expenses incurred due to battling Biden.
“Shouldn’t the Republican Party be reimbursed for fraud in that everybody around Joe, including his doctors and the Fake News Media, knew he was not capable of running for, or being, President? Just asking,” Trump questioned.
Observers couldn’t help but notice that it’s clear the former president and convicted felon is afraid of debating Harris and prefers Fox News as the venue. Initially, Trump and his campaign favored Biden, going so far as to plan legal strategies to block any Democratic replacements.
Now without Biden, whom Republican operatives described as a “dementia patient,” Trump and the GOP seek to avoid Harris’s challenge, seeking advantage through a friendlier debate setting. And perhaps they should be apprehensive: Harris has revitalized Democratic fundraising.
