Former President Donald Trump unleashed yet another tempest of tirades at the New York courthouse on Monday, after his longtime fixer-turned-nemesis, Michael Cohen, delivered a damning testimony in his criminal hush money trial.
Emerging from the courtroom flanked by MAGA allies, including Senators JD Vance and Tommy Tuberville, trump was asked about the presence of elected officials at his side. His response was as predictable as the sunrise: a cacophony of complaints and accusations hurled at the judiciary.
“They think it’s a terrible thing that is happening to democracy in this country. We have a lot of them, they want to come. I say, just stay back and pass lots of laws to stop things like this,” Trump said before firing off a blistering barrage of criticism aimed at the judge overseeing the case.
“We have a corrupt judge, and we have a judge who’s highly conflicted, and he’s keeping me from campaigning,” Trump ranted. “He’s an appointed New York judge. He’s appointed.”
Trump, constrained by a gag order prohibiting commentary on witnesses, found himself unable to publicly address Cohen’s testimony. Additionally, the judge had instructed Cohen to refrain from discussing the case publicly prior to his appearance in court.
Cohen is the prosecution’s key witness in a case accusing Trump of falsifying 34 business records related to a $130,000 hush money payment sent by Cohen to a porn actor, purportedly to silence her about an alleged affair with Trump during his 2016 campaign.
As Cohen’s bombshell revelations reverberated through the courtroom, Trump, ensconced in a whirlwind of activity, meticulously scoured through a trove of documents, furiously annotating and revising his defense strategy, each line a reminder of the tangled web of deceit he had woven.
