Trump Throws Tantrum as DOJ Turns Over Evidence For Prosecution

Former President Donald Trump on Thursday unleashed a barrage of desperate pleas on Truth Social, repeatedly urging Congress to rescue him after the Justice Department had handed over the initial set of evidence to be used against him.

Trump, who was indicted earlier this month on charges in connection with his handling of classified information, exhibited an alarming signs of distress.

“CONGRESS, PLEASE INVESTIGATE THE POLITICAL WITCH HUNTS AGAINST ME CURRENTLY BEING BROUGHT BY THE CORRUPT DOJ AND FBI, WHO ARE TOTALLY OUT OF CONTROL,” Trump implored in a Thursday morning post.

Trump also attempted to revive his claim that the DOJ had framed him by planting classified material at Mar-a-Lago, despite his previous assertions that he himself had declassified the material before bringing it to Florida.

“Congress will hopefully now look at the ever-continuing Witch Hunts and ELECTION INTERFERENCE against me on perfectly legal Boxes, where I have no doubt that information is being secretly ‘planted’ by the scoundrels in charge,” he wrote, before delving into his other legal troubles.

The indictment against Trump presents a damning case, alleging that he knowingly transported classified documents to Mar-a-Lago, storing them in unsecured locations, and then conspiring to deceive authorities about the nature of his possessions while suggesting their destruction. The indictment also includes a recording featuring Trump boasting about a covert plan against Iran.

The evidence provided by the DOJ on Wednesday consists of additional recordings, characterized as “interviews” conducted with Trump’s consent. The contents of these tapes remain undisclosed. Additionally, the evidence encompasses witness testimonies from grand jury proceedings, informing Trump about those who testified against him and their statements, as well as materials obtained through subpoenas.

Understandably, Trump appears noticeably anxious. “THIS CONTINUING SAGA IS RETRIBUTION AGAINST ME FOR WINNING AND, EVEN MORE IMPORTANTLY TO THEM, ELECTION INTERFERENCE REGARDING THE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION,” he wrote. “IT WILL BE THEIR UPDATED FORM OF RIGGING OUR MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION. LOOK AT THE POLLS – THEY CAN’T BEAT ME (MAGA!) AT THE BALLOT BOX, THE ONLY WAY THEY CAN WIN IS TO CHEAT. STOP THEM NOW!”

Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges filed against him. The DOJ has requested a speedy trial, with Judge Aileen Cannon instructing both parties to submit pretrial motions by July 24 and scheduling the trial to commence on August 14. Trump’s legal team will likely seek multiple delays, potentially postponing the trial until he can reassume the presidency and appoint an attorney general willing to drop the case.
