Former president Donald Trump shared a Fox News clip featuring wrestler and network contributor Tyrus dubbing him “a living martyr,” and praising his self-promotion skills. Tyrus also asserted that the spontaneous chants outside the Harlem bodega were genuine, not scripted.

However, it’s been revealed that Trump’s visit to the bodega was orchestrated by the pro-Trump New York Young Republican Club, who also orchestrated the chants. This event was utilized by Fox News and others to portray Trump as having broad support among New Yorkers, including Black and Hispanic voters.

Trump’s portrayal as a martyr is unfounded. Rather than facing persecution, he’s being held accountable for his actions. Despite this, he continues to wield influence within his party, launch business ventures, and maintain support from his base. While not a martyr, Trump does have fervent supporters willing to chant his name at a moment’s notice.
