Trump Rips John Bolton As ‘One Of The Dumbest People In Washington’ Over ‘Martial Law’ Debacle

President Donald Trump slammed his former national security adviser John Bolton as “one of the dumbest people in Washington” after Bolton reacted to a report that Trump considered implement martial law in order to overturn the election results, calling it “appalling.”

“There’s no other way to describe it. It’s unbelievable [and] almost certainly without precedent, but it’s important to understand this is just another day at the office, at the Oval,” Bolton told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on Sunday. “He’s unfit for the job. I don’t think he’s ever read the Constitution. If he has, he clearly didn’t understand it, and if he did understand it one point, he’s forgotten it.”

Trump responded by tweeting, “What would Bolton, one of the dumbest people in Washington, know? Wasn’t he the person who so stupidly said, on television, ‘Libyan solution’, when describing what the U.S. was going to do for North Korea? I’ve got plenty of other Bolton ‘stupid stories.’”

In another early-morning tweet, Trump blasted The New York Times report of the meeting as “Fake News.”

Citing two White House sources, The Time reported that that President Donald Trump convened a heated meeting in the Oval Office on Friday that included talks of imposing Martial Law to prevent a Joe Biden presidency. An idea floated by disgraced general Michael Flynn.

According to The Times, other presidential advisers, such as White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and White House counsel Pat Cipollone, shot down Flynn’s idea. Every other Trump adviser present also reportedly slapped down a proposal to appoint Flynn’s lawyer Sidney Powell as a special counsel to investigate conspiracy theories about widespread voter fraud.
