A former political appointee of Donald Trump’s administration has been found guilty of seven felonies for his role in the MAGA-fueled Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. The verdict was delivered on Thursday.
Federico Klein, who served as a State Department employee during Trump’s tenure, now faces a long sentence after being convicted of assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers, obstruction of an official proceeding, and engaging in civil disorder, among other misdemeanor charges, NBC News reported.
Klein’s presence in the tunnel, where some of the most vicious violence unfolded during the Capitol riot, solidified his involvement in the harrowing events of that fateful day. He did not enter the Capitol building itself.
