President Donald Trump stunned guests at a Kennedy Center dinner in Washington, D.C., on Monday with a crude outburst aimed at Democrats while rehashing his 2020 election loss.
During the board dinner, Trump took credit for landing two major global sporting events during his time in office — the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Olympics. But instead of sticking to the achievements, he launched into a rant about the 2020 election.
“We got the Olympics and then we got through Gianni, he’s the boss, he’s a friend of mine, we got the World Cup,” Trump said. “I got them both and I said, ‘Man, I won’t be president. I got the Olympics and the World Cup and I won’t be president and they’re gonna forget that I got them, nobody’s gonna mention it.’”
Then he dropped the line that stunned the room: “And then they rigged the election, and then I said, ‘You know what I’ll do? I’ll run again and I’ll shove it up their ass.’”
The crowd of board members laughed and clapped, but Trump wasn’t finished.
“And that’s what I did, and all of a sudden, and then I realized, I said, ‘You know what? I got the Olympics, I got the World Cup,’” he said.
He ended by blaming Democrats for pulling him back into politics.
“So if they would’ve left us alone, and wouldn’t have cheated on the election, and wouldn’t have rigged it, I would’ve been retired right now,” Trump said. “I would’ve been happily doing something else, and instead they have me for four more years, can you believe that?”
The speech, filled with brags, bitterness, and a crude punchline, marked another surreal moment from the former president — one that mixed sports diplomacy with election denial and personal vengeance.
