Trump’s outburst came after Gov. Tim Walz joined the Democrats’ 2024 ticket. The former president is criticizing Walz’s efforts to restore voting rights to formerly incarcerated individuals. This policy, aimed at justice rather than leniency, became a focal point for Trump’s campaign.
The irony is striking. Trump’s criticism of Walz as “soft on crime” is especially absurd given his own legal troubles; a jury recently convicted him of 34 felonies. His campaign’s attempt to paint Walz as a criminal sympathizer only highlights Trump’s own criminal status.
