As he has done before, Donald Trump decided to brag about winning an award that doesn’t even exist. Trump took to Twitter over the weekend to attack his Democratic opponent Joe Biden.
In the tweet, Trump claimed that Biden wouldn’t be getting the Latino vote if it wasn’t for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).
Trump then boasted about winning the highly honored Bay of Pigs Award” from Miami’s Cuban community. There’s a problem, no award like it exists.
Sleepy Joe Biden has spent 47 years in politics being terrible to Hispanics. Now he is relying on Castro lover Bernie Sanders to help him out. That won’t work! Remember, Miami Cubans gave me the highly honored Bay of Pigs Award for all I have done for our great Cuban Population!

Trump repeated the claims that he got an award during a Sunday-night rally in Henderson, Nevada.
“As you know, a little while ago, I received the Bay of Pigs Award from the Cuban Americans in Miami,” he said. “That’s a big honor and they don’t give it out easily.”
Trump’s claims were fact-checked by both CNN and the Associated Press, who noted that that Trump appeared to be confusing a 2016 endorsement from the Bay of Pigs Veterans Association with the bestowing of an award.
For those confused by Trump’s claim he got the “highly honored Bay of Pigs Award”:
He got an endorsement in 2016 from the Bay of Pigs Veterans Association. It’s not an award. He has a long history of turning endorsements and other non-awards into awards.
