President Donald Trump slammed Fox News on Thursday, blaming the conservative network for his defeat in the 2020 election and boastfully ranting about their sagging ratings.
“@FoxNews daytime ratings have completely collapsed. Weekend daytime even WORSE. Very sad to watch this happen, but they forgot what made them successful, what got them there. They forgot the Golden Goose. The biggest difference between the 2016 Election, and 2020, was @FoxNews!” Trump tweeted.
The president’s tweet comes as his legal challenges to the election continue to falter and President-elect Joe Biden’s lead in the vote count continues to grow.
His tweet also comes as the coronavirus pandemic worsens across the country.
Instead of taking charge as the country plunges deeper into the worst domestic crisis since World War II, Trump has hunkered inside the White House, firing a barrage of tweets baselessly claiming that the election was being stolen from him.
It’s an especially staggering and surreal failure of leadership, given the Covid-19 crisis and the subsequent economic turmoil, even for a President who downplayed and lied about the true nature of the pandemic and repeatedly predicted the virus would just go away.
