In a live appearance on Fox & Friends, former President Donald Trump took aim at Fox News anchors Martha MacCallum and Bret Baier, criticizing their coverage of his recent debate performance. Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with the anchors, who had been mentioned as potential moderators for a future debate between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.
During the broadcast, Trump rejected the idea of having MacCallum and Baier moderate, stating, “I wouldn’t want to have Martha and Brad,” referring to MacCallum and Baier. “I don’t think Martha and Brad were good last night.”
He suggested that alternative Fox News hosts, including Sean Hannity, Jesse Watters or Laura Ingraham, would be preferable.
CNN media analyst Brian Stelter noted that Trump’s remarks on live television were a direct insult to the two anchors, proposing that figures like Sean Hannity, Jesse Watters, or Laura Ingraham would be better suited for the role of debate moderators. Stelter described Trump’s comments as a direct criticism of the anchors and labeled the request for different moderators as “an obvious non-starter.”
