POLITICO congressional reporter Melanie Zanona revealed on Monday that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) told his Republican colleagues that Donald Trump spoke to him privately and admitted to bearing some responsibility for the riots that took place at the U.S. Capitol last week.
While most Republicans have condemned the attack on the U.S. Capitol, many have refused to blame the president for the event.
