Alabama authorities said a man killed his wife and two teenage girls before shooting himself in front of police officers who had responded to a suicide call, local news outlet The Sun Herald reports.
According to the St. Clair County Alabama Sheriff’s Office, cops in the small town of Riverside got a call about a man threatening suicide at 10 a.m. on Sunday. When officers arrived at the home, they found William Huntoon Vance holding a handgun, then he fatally shot himself.
When officers entered the home, found Hooton’s wife, 51-year-old Florence Diane Vance, and two teenage girls, ages 13 and 16, dead from gunshot wounds.
Officers said they wouldn’t release the names of the teens until the family was notified.
