Speaking at a rally on Friday in Waukesha, Wisconsin, former president Donald Trump complained the extensive investigations into his actions that led the January 6 attack on the US Capitol, sayin that it “could only happen to me,” and insisting that he is “the most persecuted person in the history of our country.”
“We are standing up against some of the most menacing forces, entrenched interests, and vicious opponents our people have ever seen,” Trump said. “A friend of mine recently said that I was the most persecuted person in the history of our country. When I thought about it, I actually felt that he may very well be right.”
“This could only happen to me,” he added. “Who has been through anything like this? Seriously?”
Trump was in Wisconsin to endorse local conservative candidates ahead of next week’s primaries.
