On Monday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) called for a meeting with U.S. Marine Corps leadership to ask them to stop criticizing Fox News personality Tucker Carlson after the right-wing pundit attacked women in the military.
“Under Biden, the military is launching political attacks to intimidate Tucker Carlson & other civilians who criticize their policy decisions,” Cruz tweeted. “Officials in uniform are being used for the campaign. I’ve demanded a meeting with the Commandant of the USMC to put a stop to it.”

It didn’t take long for Twitter users to take a jab at the Republican senator, some pointing out that he didn’t even defend his own wife when Donald Trump brutally attacked her during the 2016 presidential primaries.
Ted Cruz didn't defend his own wife and own dad against Donald Trump's political attacks, but he's defending [checks notes] Tucker Carlson against [checks notes again] the U.S. Marines.

Defending misogyny isn’t a good look.

So, no supporting the troops?

You wouldn’t stand up and defend your own wife so it’s no surprise you can’t be bothered to stand up for women in the military.

Ok ….. With that being said, I also have to ask – why is a politician spending time defending Tucker Carlson?

Lol yeah, turn on the military, Texas senator, great idea! 🥳🥳🥳 Man, the extended Ted Cruz downfall rules.

Intimidating media who criticize gov't policy, you say?https://t.co/PJIlPjLaZ8

Or maybe Tucker’s misogynistic musings went over like a lead balloon and insulted 1000’s of servicewomen and the military responded as they should.

I had no idea Tucker Carlson held an elected office or any direct responsibility for the civilian leadership of the US military.
And how DARE the military use personnel with direct experience of its policy to correct Carlson's hyperpartisan disinformation.

Carlson attacked the US military and called our women in uniform a mockery all while praising the strength of the Chinese military. Refuting those claims is not partisan, it's patriotic. But it's good to know Republicans hold a higher loyalty to Fox News than to our soldiers
