In the latest development of the legal saga between Stormy Daniels and former President Donald Trump, Daniels has sharply rebuked assertions made by Trump’s lawyer, Susan Necheles, during cross-examination. The focal point of contention revolves around Daniels’ reaction to encountering Trump in his underwear during their alleged hotel room encounter.
Necheles, during intense questioning, suggested that Daniels, being an adult film actress, should not have been surprised to see a man in his underwear. She probed whether Daniels found it shocking to encounter Trump in boxer shorts and a T-shirt, to the extent that she felt faint.
However, Daniels fired back, emphasizing her surprise at the unexpected sight. “If I came out of the bathroom and saw an older man in his underwear that I wasn’t expecting to see there, yeah,” Daniels asserted.
Necheles persisted, questioning Daniels about the details of her encounter with Trump, particularly focusing on inconsistencies between her past statements and her current testimony. Daniels clarified that Trump greeted her in the hotel foyer and seemed to be watching television, contradicting claims that he was getting dressed.
When confronted with statements from a 2011 InTouch interview, Daniels denied fabricating her story about the encounter with Trump. Despite Necheles’ insistence that Daniels’ narrative had changed over time, Daniels maintained the integrity of her account, highlighting that the InTouch interview was an abbreviated version.
Furthermore, Necheles attempted to downplay the significance of the alleged encounter by insinuating that Daniels had experienced similar situations before. However, Daniels emphasized the unique circumstances, noting Trump’s age and physical stature, as well as the presence of a bodyguard outside the door.
“This wasn’t the first time in your life someone made a pass at you,” Necheles said.
“No, but it is the first time they had a bodyguard standing outside the door,” Daniels replied.
Addressing statements from a 2018 interview with Slate, Daniels reiterated that she was not physically threatened or drugged by Trump. Despite Necheles’ attempts to paint her testimony as inconsistent, Daniels remained steadfast, refuting any suggestions of changing her story.
In a moment of frustration, Daniels pushed back against Necheles’ persistent questioning, firmly stating, “You’re trying to make me say that it changed but it hasn’t changed.”
