Democratic Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett from Texas, went off on Rep. Lauren Boebert, of Colorado, after the Colorado Republican was scolded for her disrespectful behavior towards a witness during a hearing.
The hearing, titled “Death by a Thousand Regulations: The Biden Administration’s Campaign to Bury America in Red Tape,” was conducted by the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, led by Republican Representative James Comer of Kentucky, who has been pursuing investigations into President Joe Biden and his family.
During the hearing, tensions escalated when Boebert engaged in an insulting argument with Professor Sally Katzen, a witness representing the Democrats on the committee and a Professor of Practice and Distinguished Scholar in Residence at New York University School of Law.
In response to Boebert’s remarks, the chair of the committee warned her about respecting the civility, decorum, and integrity of the witnesses.
Congresswoman Crockett then took the floor to address the situation, expressing her frustration and disappointment in Boebert’s conduct, and slamming the disruptive behavior exhibited by certain members of the committee. Crockett emphasized the need for maturity and professionalism, vowing to lead by example. Drawing on her legal background, including passing bar exams and previous legislative experience, she proceeded to address and correct the misinformation presented by Boebert regarding the ATF.
“Now, let’s focus on you, Ms. Katzen! Firstly, I apologize for the uncalled-for outburst,” Crockett said. “Allow me to demonstrate the maturity that seems lacking in this room and chamber. I want to address the fallacies she tried to spread. Unlike Ms. Boebert, I have legal training, successfully passed several bar exams, and have legislative experience. Therefore, let’s set the record straight.”
She then proceeded to take Boebert to the woodshed.
Watch:
“Let me do what she would never do, which is to be an adult in this room.” Watch a congressional superstar in action. First, Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett puts Lauren Boebert in her place, then follows that up with more brilliance. Bravo, Rep. Crockett! pic.twitter.com/7Jg6hRJs3j
