Police Scramble As Gunman Barricades Himself With Baby In Texas

Houston station ABC-13 is reporting a “massive police operation” as Texas authorities moved to arrest a man who barricaded himself with a baby in an apartment complex Thursday afternoon.

Police rushed to confront the suspect after a man walked into the Alvin Police Department lobby with a gunshot wound, the department announced on a Facebook post.

According to the station, the incident took place at an apartment complex in the 8100 block of Bellaire Boulevard near Waldo Street.

Police said the man broke into an apartment belonging to a friend of his girlfriend and took the baby, who is also his son. He then proceeded to break into a second apartment, which belonged to his girlfriend, but she was not home.

SWAT was called out to the scene. More than an hour later, police said the man was taken into custody and the baby was being checked out but he was unharmed.

The gunshot victim was taken to a local hospital. There are no other known victims, according to Captain Tim Hubbard.
