On Thursday, Defense One reported that the Pentagon plans on breaking tradition and won’t host an Armed Forces Farewell tribute to Donald Trump as he leaves office.
As the article reports, “Trump will leave office in disgrace.”
The White House announced that this weekend Vice President Mike Pence “will deliver remarks to sailors on the Trump Administration’s historic foreign policy achievements at Naval Air Station Lemoore,” and then to the 10th Mountain Division, in Fort Drum, New York.
Two senior defense officials confirmed to Defense One on Thursday that no military farewell is being planned for the commander in chief.
Trump does not have the best history with the military. He has been quoted calling soldiers “suckers” and “losers.” He has also used the military as a political prop.
This week, Trump became the first president in U.S. history to be impeached twice; and in one term at that.
