ABC News reported on Wednesday that former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort has been released from prison to serve the rest of his time at home due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Manafort is in the middle of serving a seven-and-a-half-year sentence for charges related to special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation after being found guilty on tax fraud and conspiracy charges.
But he was released from FCI Loretto in central Pennsylvania this week and sent home to serve the rest of his time.
Manafort was considered to be at particular risk from COVID-19 due to his age, and he had requested early release due to those health concerns last month.
His request was granted and he was released Wednesday morning.
