Olympic star Simone Biles took a swipe at former President Trump on X after clinching yet another gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“I love my black job,” Biles declared Friday, throwing shade at Trump’s recent comments. Biles won the gold in women’s all-around gymnastics on Thursday, adding to her earlier team gold triumph.
Trump has controversially used the term “Black jobs” before, including in a contentious interview at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) convention on Wednesday. During the interview, Trump disparaged job opportunities, stating, “I will tell you that coming — coming from the border are millions and millions of people that happen to be taking Black jobs.”
When pressed on what he meant by “Black jobs,” Trump provided a baffling explanation: “A Black job is anybody that has a job. That’s what it is,” he said.
In addition, Trump’s 2024 running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, recently disparaged Biles’ earlier decision to step back from the Olympic team to take care of her health, labeling it as an attempt to turn a “tragic moment” into an act of heroism. Vance criticized the societal tendency to “praise people not for moments of strength, but for their weakest moments,” further intensifying the debate surrounding Biles and her achievements.
Biles’ cutting remark highlights the growing backlash against Trump and his allies.
