On Friday, the hosts of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” couldn’t hold their laughter as they discussed House minority leader Kevin McCarthy’s rambling speech against President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better legislation.
McCarthy, who spoke for more than eight and a half hours, spent much of his remarks veering into topics such as the war in Iraq, North Korea, immigration, China, his inability to afford a Tesla, the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, baby carrots, communism, among other things unrelated to the Biden economic agenda.
“Oh, my God,” co-host Mika Brzezinski said, as Joe Scarborough laughed during the segment.
“Important stuff there on baby carrots,” said co-host Willie Geist.
“This does remind me of [Winston] Churchill when he said the battle of France is over, the battle of Britain is about to begin, asparagus, asparagus, asparagus, that’s the answer,” Scarborough said, mocking the Republican leader’s rant about vegetables.
Scarborough also slammed Democrats for bickering among themselves. “They have been total idiots over the past six months about all of this,” Scarborough said about Democrats infighting, insisting that they should focus on promoting “universal pre-K for working moms and universal pre-K for working dads and the other benefits for seniors.”
I personally hate SALT stuff, it’s a boondoggle, but I will tell you, in every swing district, you go up in New Jersey and New York and all along, the Democrats just gave swing voters huge tax cuts. If they can talk about the issue, they’ll find it in their district, they are extremely popular.”
