After 28 years on-air at Fox News, anchor Neil Cavuto signed off for the last time on Thursday, offering a heartfelt message to his viewers and the network.

Cavuto started by telling his audience that this would be his final show at Fox. “I’m leaving Fox. I’ve been planning this for some time, and today just felt like the right time,” he said. With a touch of humor, he joked, “Some of you might be thinking, ‘Well, Neil, it’s about time!’”

Throughout his career, Cavuto often poked fun at the criticism he received, sometimes reading mean comments on-air for comedic effect. Even President-elect Donald Trump shared his thoughts, tweeting, “Should have happened a long time ago!”

Cavuto reflected on his long career, saying, “I’ve been doing this for nearly three decades. There are people working with me now who weren’t even born when I started here! That’s how long I’ve been around.” But despite stepping away from Fox, he made it clear that he’s not leaving journalism altogether. “I’m just leaving here,” he explained, expressing his deep gratitude for the opportunities Fox News gave him over the years.

He also acknowledged the health challenges he faced, including battling multiple sclerosis, Covid-19, infections, and even undergoing open-heart surgery. “I’ve had my share of health issues, but I’ve been lucky with the support I got from here,” Cavuto said. “I got to do what I love—report the news. Not shout it, not blast it, but just tell it straight.”

Cavuto was quick to credit the people behind the scenes who helped make his career possible. “You see me on screen, but it’s the producers, writers, cameramen, and directors who carried me,” he said, noting their hard work. “So if I ever said something that upset you, blame them!”

He also took time to thank his viewers, saying, “My dad used to tell me to stay humble, and I think he’d be proud of this incredible run. I’ll always be grateful to you for letting me into your homes all these years.”

Cavuto ended with a lighthearted note, recalling some of the funny and sometimes mean things viewers had said about him over the years. “I got a kick out of it all,” he admitted, “and it kept me grounded.”

In closing, he shared a message of gratitude and positivity. “Let’s focus on the things that unite us, not divide us,” he said. “Thank you for making these 30 years so incredible. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.”

As Cavuto wrapped up, the co-hosts of The Five, the show that follows his, also took a moment to praise him for his generosity, strong work ethic, and kindness, calling him a truly decent person.

It was a heartfelt farewell after nearly three decades of reporting the news and connecting with millions of viewers.
