Donald Trump has made his view on the Black Lives Matter protests perfectly clear, he considers them “thugs.” The president even went as far as getting protestors beat up and tear-gassed so he can take a picture in front of a church.
Former Republican presidential nominee and Utah senator Mitt Romney offered a tweet to suggest he disagrees with the president’s response.
Romney shared a photograph of his father, George Romney, on Saturday morning. The photo showed George Romney marching alongside civil rights protestors in the Detroit suburbs in the late 1960s.
“This is my father, George Romney, participating in a Civil Rights march in the Detroit suburbs during the late 1960s,” Romney wrote alongside the photograph. He also shared a quote from the former governor: “Force alone will not eliminate many riots. We must eliminate the problems from which they stem.”

Romney has been one of the few Republicans to stand up to Trump. He was also the lone Republican in the Senate to vote to remove Trump from office.
