Speaking at a town hall event in Montrose, Colorado, this week, far-right congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-CO) made a baffling and conspiratorial claim, telling the audience that Republicans could regain control of Congress “before” the 2022 midterms because of new information that was “declassified” before Trump left office will lead to a wave of “resignations” from Democrats.

During the townhall, Boebert covered a lot of topics – from railing against everything from “cancel culture” to the $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package that President Joe Biden recently signed into law — but things became especially bizarre near the end of the event when she floated the idea of retaking the majority before the election.

“We all know that there was information that was declassified just a few days before President Trump left office, ” Boebert, who is known for embracing the QAnon conspiracy theory, told the crowd, according to the Delta County Independent. “I know someone who is involved in declassifying that. This person is getting very tired of waiting on the DOJ to do something about it. And we’ll be hearing about it very, very soon. This is my opinion with that information that I have. I believe we’ll see resignations begin to take place, and I think we can take back the majority in the House and the Senate before 2022.”

The QAnon congresswoman didn’t offer any specific to substantiate her claims.
