House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is being ridiculed on social media after he tried to blame House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for the Trump-fueled MAGA riot on January 6.
Speaking to the press Tuesday morning, McCarthy accused the California Democrat of neglecting her duty to defend the Capitol as violent Trump supporters stormed the building, injuring more than 140 police officers.
“On Jan. 6 these brave officers were put into a vulnerable and impossible position because the leadership at the top failed,” House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) told reporters just outside the Capitol.
Yet McCarthy conveniently forgot to mention the former president, who incited the riot by encouraging his supporters to march on the Capitol on Jan. 6 to block the certification of his election defeat.
McCarthy’s remarks came minutes before the House select committee’s heading into the attack, which was set to kick off shortly after the Republican press conference.
McCarthy did not answer reporters’ questions about why Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who was Senate majority leader on Jan. 6, should not bear the same responsibility they say Pelosi does for the security lapses.
Instead, they accused Pelosi of failing to call the National Guard that day and now seeking to avoid tough questions by refusing to seat two Trump allies — Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Jim Banks (R-Ind.) — on the select committee.
Naturally, Twitter users did not buy their absurd accusations:

There are 2 Republicans on that committee, we can count on them to do their job.
Speaker Pelosi certainly deserves credit for overcoming the GOP filibuster, but this is a bipartisan investigation nonetheless.
Rep Cheney and Rep Kinzinger will stand the test of time as heroes

Why did Trump incite a riot?

This is not a sham committee! This is a true bipartisan committee! Make Kevin McCarthy testify! What did you know kevin? And when did you know it?#CountryOverParty#January6thCommittee #MakeKevinMcCarthyTestify#January6thInsurrectionterroristattack

Are you kidding, @GOPLeader?
How many different ways are we going to need to point out that the Speaker can't call out the National Guard and isn't in charge of Capitol security before you'll stop lying about it?https://t.co/KtRluhXK4y

"The president bears responsibility for Wednesday's attack on Congress by mob rioters. He should have immediately denounced the mob when he saw what was unfolding…And a fact-finding commission would be prudent."

You are really reaching. The police and others had instructions from incompetent and/or complicit repubs NOT to send police,, national guard e tc. Very coordinated. The videos SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES KEVIN AND NO AMOUNT OF DENIAL CAN MAKE US UNSEE IT.

You can participate in the hearing… by testifying under oath as to your phone calls with Trump and pleading with him to send the National Guard to secure the Capitol. Trump refused to do so in a timely fashion because he wanted insurrection to succeed.

Jan 6th Select Committee
Liz Cheney: "We must also know every minute of that day in the White House. Every phone call, every conversation, every meeting up to, during and after the attack."

But the question that will be asked: Why did Trump INCITE AN INSURRECTION?

Who was with him?
Who funded the rally?
Your phone call to him
DOJ said "His cabinet can testify" pic.twitter.com/dhMXUOd5El— Linda From Texas (@stompintexan) July 27, 2021
We wouldn't have needed protection & the National Guard if trump & @GOP members of congress didn't incite this insurrection.
You said and I QUOTE:

The most cost effective way to save time and get all the answers we need, is to subpoena Trump and Qevin, NOW!
They must testify under oath in a public hearing, for the whole nation to watch.
