Jeanine Pirro, the sitting U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C., is suing her own hometown for a quarter of a million dollars after she says she took a hard fall over what amounts to a sloppy construction setup in the street.
According to CBS News correspondent Scott MacFarlane, Pirro filed a $250,000 personal injury lawsuit against the City of Rye, New York, and ConEdison, claiming she was injured in a 2025 trip-and-fall incident tied to excavation work.
The complaint spells it out in blunt legal terms: “Ms. Pirro tripped and fell over a large wooden block embedded in and protruding from under a steel plate covering the DPW 3919 excavation in the roadway, which constituted a hazardous, defective, dangerous and unsafe condition.”
In other words, she says a wooden block sticking out beneath a steel road plate sent her crashing down. Her husband, Albert Pirro, is representing her in the lawsuit.
The filing argues ConEdison created the dangerous condition through its construction and excavation work. It also accuses the City of Rye — which contracted the project — of failing to enforce its own safety requirements. The complaint holds both parties responsible for her injuries.
“As a result of defendants’ negligence, Ms. Pirro sustained serious personal injuries, including but not limited to bruises and contusions to the head, eye, face, and shoulder areas,” the lawsuit states, according to local outlet Westfair Online.
It continues: “Ms. Pirro was confined to bed, required medical attention and treatment, has suffered, and continues to experience pain and suffering, inconvenience, loss of enjoyment of life, and economic damages.”
Another local publication, The Rye Record, also reported on the lawsuit, confirming Pirro is pursuing negligence claims against both Con Edison and the city in connection with the the trip-and-fall incident near a municipal excavation site.
MacFarlane broke the story publicly, writing: “NEW: US Attorney for DC Jeanine Pirro has filed a $250,000 injury lawsuit against the city of Rye, NY and ConEdison for a fall she says she suffered in 2025 … Albert Pirro is representing her.”

So here we are: the top federal prosecutor in the nation’s capital suing her own hometown and a major utility company over what she describes as an avoidable street hazard.
The case now moves into the legal system will be on the plaintiff’s side arguing that a wooden block under a steel plate caused serious injuries and lasting damage.
For Rye and ConEdison, it’s no small claim. For Pirro, it’s a $250,000 bet that the roadway should have been safer.
