Internet Reacts After Marjorie Taylor Greene Suggests House GOP Will Govern As Mobsters

Social media users are mocking Georiga Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) after the far-right congresswoman referred to the various GOP factions meeting weekly to discuss strategy for when Republicans take control of the House of Representatives as “the five families,” in an apparent reference to the mob.

“Something we’ve been doing and it’s really interesting,” the QAnon evangelist told former Trump White House chief strategist Steve Bannon on his “War Room” show. “People are arguing, people are clashing. People are also starting to agree.”

“And there’s a meeting that’s happening every week. And we meet in Kevin McCarthy’s office, and it’s called the five families,” she said.

She added: “And the five families —and you know, my reference— the five families are parts of our conference, all the different parts, and we’re coming together and having discussions on how we’re going to govern, and the majority and it’s literally my favorite meeting.”

“And the five families. And you know, my reference. The five families are parts of our conference, all the different parts, and we’re coming together and having discussions on how we’re going to govern in the majority,” Greene said. “And it’s literally my favorite meeting.”

Greene didn’t explain the GOP’s “five families” reference, but it was clearly an allusion to the mob, and Bannon took it that way.

“Okay, Let’s take a short break. We’ll come back to it, Bannon said before cutting to commercials. “I hope that those meetings turn out better than the five families meetings in ‘The Godfather.'”

Naturally, Twitter critics had a lot to say about Greene’s “mafia reference.”
