The Republican Party is set to vote to censure GOP Reps Adam Kinzinger Illinois and Liz Cheney of Wyoming after the RNC voted in favor of a motion to do so over their participation in the House select committee probing the 6 January attack on the US Capitol.

Trump loyalists in the Republican party have accused the two representatives of “behavior which has been destructive to the institution of the US House of Representatives, the Republican Party and our republic” for looking into the truth behind the Trump-fueled insurrection.

Both Kinzinger and Cheney have vehemently rejected the accusation and insisted they will not be intimidated by the motion whether it passes or not.

On Friday, Kinzinger hit back at the RNC over its move to censor the two representatives for joining the 6 January investigation, declaring: ” I am now even more committed to fighting conspiracies and lies:

Meanwhile, Cheney released a statement and said that “history will be their judge”.

“The leaders of the Republican Party have made themselves willing hostages to a man who admits he tried to overturn a presidential election and suggests he would pardon 6 January defendants, some of whom have been charged with seditious conspiracy. I’m a constitutional conservative and I do not recognize those in my party who have abandoned the Constitution to embrace Donald Trump. I will never stop fighting for our constitutional republic. No matter what,” she added.

Another Republican, Sen. Bill Cassidy of Lousiana, also knocked the RNC for the vote to censure Cheney and Kinzinger
