Trump Federal Correctional Institution. This legislative move follows closely after House Republicans revealed a plan to rename Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C. after Donald Trump. Connolly criticized this proposal, citing Trump’s involvement in various legal issues related to election interference and mishandling of classified materials. He suggested that if Republicans wished to honor Trump, a federal prison would be more fitting.
It appears Connolly has identified such a location. The legislation outlined by MacFarlane specifies that all references to the Miami institution in U.S. laws, regulations, and documents would be amended to reflect the new name.
Florida holds significance in Trump’s legal battles, with special counsel Jack Smith accusing him of improperly handling classified information at his Mar-a-Lago resort. FBI investigators discovered documents stored in various areas of the resort, including a ballroom, bathroom, and shower. Trump has pleaded not guilty to charges including willful retention of national defense information and obstructing justice.
