Fox News host Geraldo Rivera is being dragged over hot lava after tweeting his masterplan to keep Donald Trump from ever seeking the presidency again.
It’s very simple, he said. All it would take is a pardon from President Joe Biden.
Rivera shared a clip of Biden laughing off the idea of a pardon for the former president, who is facing potential federal obstruction charges in a classified documents scandal as well as possible charges related to instigating the Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the U.S. Capitol.
But Rivera said “it’s a good idea” to “pardon Trump” ― for a price.
“Biden pardoning Trump-the way Ford pardoned Nixon- IS a good idea. This clemency to include inciting the violence of January 6th, the Mar-a-Lago documents case & any other federal allegation.” Rivera wrote. “Clemency would require a pledge by Trump that he will no longer seek the presidency.”
The tweet was met with furious backlash over the idea
Critics said Trump did the crime, and needs to face the time, while others noted that President Gerald Ford’s pardon of President Richard Nixon set a terrible precedent:
Biden pardoning Trump-the way Ford pardoned Nixon- IS a good idea. This clemency to include inciting the violence of January 6th, the Mar-a-Lago documents case & any other federal allegation.

Actually pardoning Nixon was bad and this would also be bad https://t.co/QyBGs4JzPN

I’ll take “Shit that will never happen.” for a billion, Geraldo.
Trump would never repent or acknowledge any kind of guilt. https://t.co/oZnx2n6jJy

How about this: Trump doesn't get pardoned and then loses in 2024 https://t.co/tUzrgVRdHk

@GeraldoRivera what better message to send to Trump (and those to follow) than he can incite a violent coup and steal classified documents with impunity. If you care about the future of this country, you won't continue to advocate for such an egregious travesty of justice.

A better idea is Trump going to prison for sickng his mob on Congress. https://t.co/t4UAFWTzHp

Ford pardoning Nixon is one of the biggest mistakes made by an American President. Pardoning someone like Trump will show, once again, he got away with it. https://t.co/SXVwLDFGCS

Nobody is above the law.
If you do the crime, you can do the time.
