Fox News host Maria Bartiromo and Eric Trump made efforts to clarify former President Donald Trump’s controversial comments about using the U.S. military against what he termed “radical left lunatics” and “the enemy from within.”
During a recent segment on Fox News, Bartiromo expressed frustration that the media focused on Trump’s mention of “the enemy from within” after her earlier interview with him. She emphasized that the nuances of his remarks were often overlooked.
Eric Trump defended his father’s statements, likening them to the so-called “Russia hoax” that overshadowed his presidency. “That hung over my father’s presidency for a three-year period of time,” he explained. He pointed to the numerous investigations and social media bans that he claimed exemplified the “enemy within.”
“They raided Melania’s closet. They raided, you know, Barron’s room… You had them ban him from Twitter, ban him from Facebook, ban him from Instagram,” he charged. “I mean, between the censorship and the legal lawfare and the political lawfare and the corruption and the weaponization of every political institution, there are tremendous enemies within.”

Bartiromo attributed Trump’s military threat to his conversational style, noting, “But what I’m saying is President Trump, and I know that you’ve heard your father talk about how he likes to weave.”
“But what I’m saying is President Trump, and I know that you’ve heard your father talk about how he likes to weave,” the Fox News host said. “He goes to lots of different places and then he weaves in the answer to your question at the end.”
She highlighted that the question about potential chaos from outside agitators was often missed in the coverage, leading to a skewed representation of his comments regarding Adam Schiff and military intervention.
“And here I was specifically asking him about the idea of outside agitators coming out, creating chaos on election day, should it appear that he was winning,” Bartiromo added. “Outlet after outlet, they took out my question on outside agitators entirely and they just ran him talking about Adam Schiff or the enemy within and getting the National Guard.”
