Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) has ditched his falsely worn Special Forces pin and opted instead for flashy gold Trump sneakers, according to a scathing new report.
Nehls, who has faced intense scrutiny for improperly donning a Combat Infantryman Badge that was rightfully revoked in 2023, justified his actions by dismissing journalists as “vultures” hungry for scandal, as detailed by Politico on Wednesday.
“Now that I don’t wear that, what are you going to talk to me about?” Nehls taunted reporters, flaunting his ostentatious footwear and a necktie adorned with images of Donald Trump hugging the American flag. “You guys are gonna be bored out of your minds,” he added.
The tie, retailing for a mere $37, serves as yet another tasteless accessory in his attempt to distract from his tarnished reputation.
Critics within his own party have not held back, condemning Nehls for tarnishing the integrity of military honors and lambasting his refusal to own up to his deception.
“He needs to stop wearing it,” remarked one House Republican, echoing widespread disgust among veterans who uphold the true valor that Nehls has shamelessly appropriated.
Despite attempts to deflect blame onto the media and proclaim his innocence as an “America First Patriot,” Nehls has only succeeded in reinforcing his disconnect from accountability and ethical conduct expected of lawmakers.
His disdain for the truth is evident as he brushes off valid concerns with baseless accusations of dishonesty. And with each flashy accessory, he further diminishes the dignity of public office and the sacrifices of those who have genuinely earned military accolades through honorable service.
