Donald Trump’s recent interview with Phil McGraw, also known as Dr. Phil, has ignited a firestorm of criticism after he made an outlandish statement involving Jesus and the California vote-by-mail system.

During the interview, Trump disparaged California’s vote-by-mail program, which he baselessly claimed leads to widespread voter fraud. He went on to assert that he would win the state if there were a completely honest vote, even going so far as to involve Jesus in his argument.

“I guarantee you, if Jesus came down and was the vote counter, I would win California,” he remarked. “In other words, if we had an honest vote counter, a really honest vote counter, I do great with the Hispanics, great, I mean I had a level that no other Republican’s ever done, but if we had an honest vote counter, I would win California.”

Trump’s remark came despite no Republican presidential candidate winning California since George H.W. Bush in 1988. In the 2016 and 2020 elections, Trump lost California by a significant margin.

The comment quickly drew scathing reactions online. Kamala Harris’ campaign labeled Trump’s claim as “a level of delusion difficult for even Dr. Phil to diagnose.”
