Donald Trump reportedly held secret meetings in the White House with unknown participants in the days leading to the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, according to his former press secretary Stephanie Grisham.
Grisham made the stunning disclosure during a recent interview with the select committee investigating the Capitol attack, in which she gave more significant details than expected about what Trump was doing before January 6.
The former press secretary told the panel that the secret meetings “were known by only a small number of aides, The Guardian reports.
According to the news outlet, Grisham recounted that the meetings were mostly scheduled by Trump’s chief of staff, Mark Meadows, and she saw the former White House chief usher, Timothy Harleth, directing participants upstairs. She reportedly said she wasn’t sure who attended the meetings, but told the panel that Harleth and other Trump aides would know their identities.
The revelation comes hours after the Supreme Court cleared the way for the House Select Committee to get Trump’s White House documents from the National Archive.
