Former Federal Prosecutor: ‘Biased’ Judge In Rittenhouse Trial Is ‘Everything Wrong With Our Justice System’

On Friday, a former federal prosecutor suggested that Judge Bruce Schroeder —who presided the homicide trial of Kenosha shooter Kyle Rittenhouse— appeared biased and slammed the proceedings as “everything wrong with our criminal justice system.”

During an appearance on CNN’s “The Situation Room,” Shan Wu he believed the entire trial was an indictment of the criminal justice system.

“Not guilty on all charges,” said anchor Wolf Blitzer. “What’s your reaction to this verdict?”

“Not surprised, Wolf,” said Wu. “I really think this case offers us a glimpse and a reminder of everything that’s wrong with our criminal justice system.”

Wu then acknowledged that “the prosecutors here did themselves no favors” during the trial and said that “they had a lot of self-inflicted injuries” that hurt their case.

“They had an uphill battle,” he said. “The judge was very difficult for them — even appeared to demonstrate bias — but the real takeaway is all the things that are wrong with our system and those need to be paid attention to.”
