A federal Grand Jury on Friday indicted former Trump White House advisor Peter Navarro for contempt of Congress over his refusal to comply with a subpoena issued by the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.
Navarro had refused to appear on February 23 in response to the subpoena, and also refused to produce documents sought by that subpoena, according to the indictment.
This week, he filed a lawsuit against the House Select Committee, claiming he cannot be subpoenaed because of “executive privilege” and questioning the authority of the committee.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
