In a fiery exchange on Thursday, GOP Rep. George Santos vehemently opposed attempts by fellow House Republicans to expel him, with tensions escalating as he accused one of them, Rep. Max Miller (R-OH), of being an alleged “woman-beater.”
The clash unfolded during a debate on a resolution aiming to remove Santos from office, following a damning Ethics Committee report exposing his use of campaign funds for botox and OnlyFans subscriptions.
Breaking House protocol, Miller directly confronted Santos, asserting, “You, sir, are a crook.” Unfazed, Santos shot back, highlighting Miller’s past accusations of domestic abuse in 2021 by a former White House staffer.
“The same colleague was accused of being a woman-beater,” Santos said. “We all have pasts.”
The heated exchange, captured on video (see it below), quickly went viral, sparking public discourse on social media. Users expressed disappointment in the state of affairs within the House of Representatives, with one commenting, “The Republican Party, ladies and gentlemen.”
“Feminist Wild” added a sarcastic take, stating, “George Santos—stands there and says terrible things about his colleagues. Also George Santos—‘I’m not going to stand here and say terrible things about my colleagues.’”
Adding a touch of humor, Steven B. Rogers quipped about Miller, “Dude looks like the bad guy from an 80s movie with a Peter Cetera soundtrack, amirite?”
Amidst the verbal sparring, an unexpected winner emerged in the form of a man seated behind Santos, whose quietly surprised expression became a focal point. Described by one user as having “the look of enjoyment that can only come from watching Maury,” the incident has reignited discussions about the divisive nature of contemporary politics within the Republican party.
